Login gives Invalid Token message
For security purposes, the website records a token in your Browser cache when you are logged in. If your login time expires or you close or lose the Browser window without logging out, it may be the next login trips over that token in your Browser cache. Most instances have been traced to Browsers opening again with last opened tabs including our website after the last session was not correctly logged out. This is actually a good security measure. To login after getting an Invalid Token message, use your Browser back button to go back twice and then re-attempt your login.
Looks bad in my Web Browser
There are now well over 100 versions of web browsers and not all comply with current web coding standards. We only attempt to make the website desplay adequately in the most common browsers. As volunteers we do not have the resources to make it perfect for all. If you are using a very common web browser and it is up to date for its latest version and so is your operating system, then please advise us of the problem you are having and the version of your browser and operating system. Example Windows 7 IE9.
Internet Explorer Users
We find most web site design issues arising with Internet Explorer. There are many Browser systems other than Internet Explorer and we seldom get design issues with our website display in those Browsers. However we do try to support Internet Explorer. Sometimes a particular page or menu item does not display correctly with Internet Explorer and we do not notice it as we develop the website with other Browsers. If you find such a display problem, please email us with the link of where you found it in the website.
Menu items for Nature Walks and Birdo News lose top of website formatting but are still readable: This has been identified with some versions of Internet Explorer suuch as IE9 on Windows 7. It works of in Windows 8. This issue is currently unresolved.
You know that content has been changed
Sometimes content gets changed but the old content shows in your web browser software. This is usually a "cache" issue where the old content is stored in a cache and served up to you instead of the current content as a way of speeding up the display. Cache usually expires after a while so that new content will eventually be shown. Caching occurs at multiple points from our website to your computer. We have turned off our website caching as we believe our content will be updated so often we want to ensure you get the latest content. But we do not control all cache along the way. If your web browser is set-up to use your Internet Service Providor or another's proxy this may still leave cache issues. Also your web browser settings may include cache that you can manually clear in its preferences or options. If you change these settings, you may need to restart your browser or even your computer to see the change take place.
Some content does not appear to be loading or error codes are being shown
When the website was first released, we had some hosting server issues late at night and in the early morning that overloaded a few accounts including ours and made parts of our website data unretrievable. The hosting provider traced it to another user on the server and rectified the issue. We appreciate the high qaulity service from our host and understand that this type of issue is a very minor risk with low cost hosting accounts like ours.
However, no website on shared hosting accounts is free of this risk and it may happen again. Please use the contact form below and please copy the text of any error message you received, the website http address in the address bar usually at the top of your browser and the time it occurred.
