After rain most days for weeks, we had a clear bright morning to enjoy the walk with Mike, Julie, David, Judith, Roslyn and Lawrence. We maintained a slow pace by being busy identifying many species in the first 200 meters. All up it was 2 hours for a very short walk with plenty of bird song for the journey. Report in Progress Map

This area is regional eco-system 1288 Open Forest. The path commences under a large Foam Bark - Jagera pseudorhus. The 600 metre path leads from Hartley Road to Caryota Ct on what is described on Google Earth as Cliff Road. It is Council managed Reserve but not a Landcare site. To the west is the Sports ground and the right is a cliff with below a single 21 hectare freehold land title and next East is an unnamed section of National Park below that freehold title.
There were calls along the way from Grey Shrike Thrush
It was good to also see a pair of Little Shrike Thrush albeit a bit hard to keep the binoculars oin them as the chased each other through the trees and understory.
Create and maintain the environment and surrounding surviving nature will help you along the journey. It will also gradually put its own stamp on what it wants the ecology to be in this location but it will take many years for that occur. At least we know its getting going here. We also know that the work is not about control but assisting and suggesting to nature and then nature will have its say heard. That’s the way it should be. We just help keep it true to its own local ecology and is not taken over dramatically by the invaders we bring to this locality.
