Walkers – Michele, Julie, Jackie & Colin - Distance: - 13.2k
A short climb to Bushrangers Cave was the highlight of this recce in the cool morning mist and light rain. The climb from Bushrangers cave was very arduous with no defined track and only sporadic ribbon markers to guide us to the top of the plateau. We left our own additional markers should we come this way again.
Finally at Wagawn we had a quick discussion and decided that, given the wet track and the long climb up, that it would be safer to continue on to Binna Burra and to be rescued by Gary rather than risk the wet, slippery descent back to the car. The walk back was very pretty in the dizzle and mist but we picked up many leeches for company. Coffee and cake at Michele & Gary's was very welcome. For the future decided that the walk up to Bushrangers cave is a must as it is a beautiful, cool spot. This walk could be combined with another shorter walk of which there are many along the Numinbah Vally such as Egg Rock, Turtle Rock, Natural Arch etc. The walks to Garragoolba Lookout, Mt Hobwee and Mt Wagawn from Binna Burra are also easily accessible and should be considered for future long walks from Binna Burra - Colin.
