We also saw two red-bellied black snakes, but both scurried off into the bush as soon as we stomped along. The only casualty of the day was Kris' shoes, when the sole of one shoe decided to part company with the upper midway on our walk (Kris will be very pleased to receive new hiking shoes from her family for Christmas).
Everyone was pleased to arrive back at the carpark around 3.00p.m. to exchange their hiking boots for more airy, comfortable sandals. The day ended with a stop for refreshments at Canungra on the way home. However, Tony Milligan decided to hang around and do the Treetop Walk and not come for coffee. He reported that 100m into the treetops walk there was a pair of Alberts Lyrebirds right next to the boardwalk, which wandered under the boardwalk and then off the otherside without a care in the world. It made his day. - Christine.
