A cold, dry and very windy day made conditions tough for all. The air was filled with dust which made breathing uncomfortable, especially climbing the slopes of Spicer's Peak. We did make it to the lookout point but the dust made the spectacular viewing we had expected a non-event.
We persevered as best we could, only to find walking Mt Mathieson in a clockwise direction far more difficult, and with fire blackened undergrowth and Grass Trees we all came back dirty and disheveled. Nevertheless we all enjoyed seeing Mt Mathieson in difficult circumstances - Colin
