Smoke haze obscured the horizon but provided for a spectacular sunrise on the morning of 9 November, and the previous afternoon's walk to Back Creek was also hazy.
On the Back Creek walk we ventured as far as the newly erected barrier fence before making our way back to Back Creek to rock hop down to Denham Falls where only a trickle of water was coming over the falls.
An early return to the Cameron residence for nibbles and to prepare for the BBQ and an evening of conversation.
We left at 8:00 am in the morning for the Beechmont segment, walking across the farm and visiting cattle and horses along the way. The walk along South West Road was very hazy and we saw the many burnt out patches of Lamington National Park. On the return journey the wind had picked up yet again, causing a number of spot fires to the west across the valley.
