Walkers - Michele, Leigh, Jeanette, Jackie, Chris, Jill, Elizabeth, Gail, Klaus, Helga, Paul, John, Colin, Julie
It was great to see that we had a few new walkers today, Gail, Jackie and Christine. Jeanette was down from Buderim & Klaus and Helga joined us as well. We also had Elizabeth, Jill, John, Paul, Colin, Michelle & Leigh. It was lovely walking in the sun and beside the water as the sun was sparkling on it.
We walked along a lot of the different tracks in Coombabah Lakelands with an assortment of bird and animal names. We saw some large kangaroos and one with a little Joey in its pouch. We also saw two koalas today, one that was well spotted by Paul, high up in a tree, as we were sitting on a log eating our lunch. It was lucky that all walkers had rebelled and really wanted to have lunch there because if we'd continued onto "the log" that I had planned for us to have lunch on then we would have missed the second koala. We also saw a really large Lace Monitor going up the side of a tree. We heard lots of different birds and saw quite a few kangaroos and/or wallabies. Was a great day for seeing wildlife today as sometimes we don't see very much, only a few birds.
We had morning tea on the Boardwalk, near the Rain Tree Glen entry. Every time we come here we talk about the time when we saw the tiny, little green frogs, sitting on the reeds. We all "walked and talked" and it was great spending time catching up with everyone in a nice relaxed way, no need to race this week.
Well, looks like I have lived up to my name again as Colin said that it was about 18k, again. I'm sure it was nowhere near that but how can I argue with technology. It was an easy walk as all very flat, even if it was a bit boggy in places.
We finished off our day at Mano's Cafe at Ross Evans Nursery. Many thanks to you all for your great company - it was a lovely day for walking - Julie
