We left some cars at Lilydale Road just out of town and then drove round to the start of our walk on the Great Western Trailhead up Schneider Road. The walk, about 2 km, along a creek and thru farmland took us a couple of hours, with some steep parts.
The weather was beautiful and we could hear a Pheasant Coucal calling in the distance. We enjoyed seeing a range of plants and trees as well as the many birds & some butterflies. We spent time watching several Rose Robins, who always look like they are wearing tuxedos with bright pink bibs; Double-barred Finches and one of our favourites, the Red-backed Wrens.
